The Commission was created by ECOSOC in 1992 to give high-quality advice on Science and Technology to the GA and ECOSOC, and to serve as a forum to discuss and advance understanding on emerging science and technology issues.
The Commission focuses on issues of transfer of technology and capacity-building.
